Accra, June 13, GNA - Mr Kwabena Agyepong, General Secretary of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), has urged delegates to elect parliamentary candidates who could help the party win the 2016 general election.

Speaking in an interview with Ghana News Agency in Accra, at the weekend, Mr Agyepong said the NPP is on a rescue mission and it is imperative that only winnable candidates are elected to help the flagbearer win power.

He said Ghanaians had for the past seven years witnessed economic nosedive under the watch of the National Democratic Congress government and the only available hope for them is the NPP, under the leadership of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo.

'I will therefore call on all delegates to make sure that they vote for parliamentary candidates who will provide the needed support for our flagbearer to win the 2016 elections,'' he said.

He announced that the party in collaboration with the Electoral Commission has put in place measures to ensure that the election is free and fair, adding that the losing candidates should respect the verdict of the delegates.

Mr Agyepong said national executives of the party, in collaboration with regional executives, are working assiduously to ensure that the constituencies that would not be taken part in the voting on Saturday have the opportunity to elect their parliamentary candidates on June 27.
