Beposo (Ash), Aug 17, GNA- About 40 persons out of 2,400 adult population at Beposo near Nsuta in the Sekyere West district of Ashanti have registered for the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) and paid the premium of 6,000 cedis each.

Mr Joseph Timpabi, one of the registration and premium collectors, who briefed the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on the exercise, attributed the low patronage to lack of sufficient education and affordability of the premium.

He said even though some people understand the scheme perfectly well, they want to wait for the scheme to take off for sometime before they decide to join it.

Mr Emmanuel Nkrumah, another collector said some people had refused to join the scheme because they suspect that they might not receive the "desired health care from the service providers".
