Koforidua, Aug. 13, GNA - Eastern Regional leaders of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have expressed their satisfaction with the 10 days limited voter registration exercise which ends on Wednesday.

According to the two major political parties, the exercise had gone on well in all the registration centres in the region, except some few areas where some hitches were encountered and were solved by officials of the Electoral Commission (EC).

Mr David Prah, Eastern Regional Communication Director of the NPP, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in a separate interview on Wednesday that, 'so far so good, the voter registration exercise has gone on well.'

He commended all polling agents of the party in the region for doing a good job in protecting the party's interests in the registration exercise and urged them to continue to remain vigilant as the exercise comes to a close today.

Mr Bismarck Tawiah-Boateng, Regional Organiser of the National Democratic Congress, also expressed his satisfaction with the trend of the registration.

He said, he was happy about the maximum co-operation among NDC and NPP representatives in all the registration centres he visited.

Mr Tawiah-Boateng who is contesting for the Eastern Regional Chairmanship of the NDC expressed concerned about the long distance some people had to walk to the registration centres.

He also complained about the low publicity given to the exercise by the Electoral Commission (EC) which he said resulted in low turnout in some centres.

Mr Tawiah- Boateng commended the agents of the political parties, especially NPP and NDC for the mutual understanding and cooperation exhibited at the centres that had led to the success of the exercise.

He appealed to the EC to ensure that, any future exercise of this nature is given the necessary publicity to enable people who are qualified to take part.
