The mortal remains of Ghanaian literary figure, Professor Kofi Awoonor has arrived in Accra.
The late Council of State Chairman was shot and killed by militant group, al-Shabab at the Westgate shopping centre in Kenya on Saturday.
Family members including his son, Afetsi Awoonor accompanied the body to the Kotoka International Airport where they were met by government officials and members of the National Democratic Congress, including E. T. Mensah, Koku Anyidoho, Dr Kwabena Adjei, Dan Abodakpi, Larry Gbevlo Lartey and Capt. (rtd) Kojo Tsikata.
The body will be sent to the Sakumono funeral home awaiting burial on November 9 in Weta in the Volta Region.
