Sunyani, March 19, GNA - The administration block of Mim Senior High School in the Asunafo North Municipality in the Brong-Ahafo Region was gutted by fire at dawn last Monday.
Briefing the Ghana News Agency in Sunyani, Fireman Kwame Adomako, Deputy Brong Ahafo Regional Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) said, the Asunafo Directorate of the GNFS received a distressed call from the school about the fire at about 0140 hours on Monday.
He said personnel rushed to the scene only to see the administration block in flames but were able to control the fire from spreading to the classrooms and dormitories.
Fireman Adomako said equipment and stationery were destroyed by the fire, which started from the typing room before spreading to other offices on the block.
He said the cause of the fire was not yet known.
Fireman Adomako said the students were not sent home because all the classrooms and the dormitories were intact. The administrative staff are however affected.
He advised the public to call on the GNFS on time for assistance in case of fire outbreak. GNA
