The Litany of Johns in Politics Is the Secrete behind Ghanas Peace and Devt

The fourth republic gave rise to the name John in the politics of Ghana. Past and present presidents include Jerry John Rawlins, J . A. Kuffour, J. E. A .Mills and John Dramani Mahama. One cannot forget of John Mensah Sabbah a prominent lawyer, philanthropist and a statesman who also argued against the attempt by the British to take over lands that belonged to the Gold Coast people.

How passionate have we as a nation come to ask ourselves the secrete behind the peaceful environment within which we found ourselves as compared to other African nations which are challenged with calamities. Why is Ghana not experiencing a civil war? Why is Ghana not bedeviled with religious conflict? Why is Ghana not experiencing a north-south conflict? The preamble of Ghana's constitution begins with the name of the Almighty God .This preamble is also used by constitutions of other African nations yet these nations are faced with such calamities .One may ask why?.

It is clear that some characteristics of the Bible Johns exist in the Johns who became presidents in Ghana. JJ Rawlings stood and will always stand for probity and accountability. According to Thomas Jefferson (3rd prez of USA and author of the declaration of independence) “Honesty is the first chapter in the book of wisdom, but transparency and accountability are the trade mark of efficient management.”J.A.Kuffour believed in the sovereignty of Ghanaians and the rule of law. Affectionately called the asumdwehene (King of peace), JEA Mills was humble, peace loving and believed that without God, the better Ghana agenda could not have come to pass.

When John the Baptise was attacked by the Roman soldiers in the Jordan River, he held his anger and rather baptized them as the multitude of soldiers continued to pounce on him .Despite the verbal attacks on President John Mahama, he has remained calm and called for national cohesion. What else should a nation expect from it leader if not the peace which will serve as a platform for socio-economic advancement thereby leading to national development.

In chapter three of the book of 1 Samuel, God called him three times in the house of Eli .It was the third call that the boy Samuel responded by saying, speak Lord thy servant hears. In the case of the Johns in Ghana, God is calling for the fourth time. It is only the unbelievers (not against any religion) who are making unnecessary noise to prevent the fourth call from been heard. I realize such noise is associated with darkness and darkness must give way when the light of John appears.

In conclusion, the secrete behind Ghana's peace and development is as a result of the Johns in leadership. Let me hasten to state that, this is without prejudice to any religion because we have the Johns in every religion who are capable of performing such task. The value of the Johns in Ghana politics have not outlived it usefulness in leadership and I therefore call on Ghanaians to consider the current peace and stability the nation is enjoying and let the grace of God still be upon us. Henry Kaiser once stated that when your work speaks for itself don't interrupt it. The works of the Johns have spoken let Ghanaians not interrupt but to allow the consistency of the Johnism in leadership.
