Tarkwa,Aug 3, GNA - A 46-year-old labourer, Sam Dondor, has been sentenced to two years imprisonment by a Tarkwa circuit court for stealing car spare parts valued 4,000 Ghana cedis.
He pleaded guilty.
Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Edward Paddy told the court presided over by Mr. Samuel Obeng Diawuo that the complainant is a taxi driver.
He said on July 7, the complainant was driving his taxi when Donkor stopped him and boarded the taxi with a 4x4 gearbox and some car spare parts.
The driver became suspicious and questioned the convict but he told him his brother owned a fitting shop and had instructed him to send the items to Accra for repairs.
The convict directed the driver take him to the Tarkwa Railway Station where he alighted. The driver then went to the Tarkwa Railway Police Station and reported Donkor.
Donkor took to his heels when he saw the police. On July 29 the taxi driver spotted him pretending to be a beggar and arrested him and handed him over to the police.
