Police investigation are underway to unravel how Charles Quansah, a prisoner in condemned cells at the Nsawam Prisons, could interact with former ministers of state who have also been jailed for causing financial loss to the state. The Minister of Information, Nana Akomea, announced this at a news conference in Accra yesterday.
According to him, the issue is a serious one and that efforts are being made to get to the bottom of the matter. On the controversial accounts of the GETFund, he asked the NDC to join the four institutions which the Minister of Education, Youth and Sports has requested to meet to reconcile the accounts once and for all.
The institutions include the Finance Ministry, BoG, the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department and the Auditor-General’s Department. He said the long-standing dispute over the matter needs to be cleared once and for all and that it will be in the best interest of the nation.
