Coming Together - TEAMWORK
How do we come together and then stay together?
"One piece of log creates a small fire, adequate to warm you up, add just a few more pieces to blast an immense bonfire, large enough to warm up your entire circle of friends; needless to say that individuality counts but team work dynamites." Jin Kwon
It's been said that 'no man is an island', how true that is. Yes, no man is an island.
As much as I love the self-help industry and do read wide on anything 'self-help' and in addition listen to a whole lot of audios by various speakers around the world. I must say that no man is really self-made. Huh! Yes I mean it and hope you will get my point shortly if you haven't already.
The key note here is that no man makes it to the top alone. Everyone needs someone, or people in one way or the other to aid in the realization of a dream/goal. Nevertheless, a lot depends on the individual, the commitment to act, and constantly working towards the achievement of the goal. Countless stories have proven this to be true. Let's look at the following: The man who made it first to space [Alexei Leonov - USSR ] Yes He got there alone, but there where a great number of people behind him, working tirelessly to make that dream a reality). In business, great companies like Google was started by two people – Larry and David, Bill Gates has a great companion – Steve Ballmer. The list can go on and on and on.
A number of startup companies and individuals could have gotten further than they did or are if only they had worked together with the right people – TEAM.
There's an Akan proverb that says “One finger does not pick a stone” Think about it!
Here lies the simple denominator – TEAM. You need TEAMWORK to make the DREAMWORK. Who is your right team mate? TEAM has the acronym: Together Everyone Achieves More. That is exactly what you and I need and more especially in this part of the world where most people want to do it all by themselves.
I believe teamwork group work...why? because in a team every member works towards the achievement of a set goal with commitment, purpose, passion in that Together Everyone Achieves More, whereas in a group, most of the time only the group leader or a member may be doing all the work for the benefit of the others I guess we can all relate to this in one way or the other in reference to school projects. This same idea of teamwork translates into many aspects of our lives. In friendship, relationships, marriages, business partnerships and in every game you can think of.
“Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence wins championships.” - Michael Jordan
Let's look at a typical example with football, a team can have the best of skilled individual players but if they don't coordinate and collaborate, not being so much concerned who get the credit for scoring a goal, the chance of winning will be very high for a given match.
In conclusion he benefits of teamwork cannot be overlooked. Let us rise up and team up and build great families, businesses, country, continent and a wonderful world. It's all starts with you and me, looking out for the mutual benefit of one another and working towards the goal. Henry Ford once stated...Coming together is the beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success.
This is a timeless lesson we can all learn and apply to our lives and business. “ In the fall, when you see geese heading south for the winter fly along in v formation, one might consider what science has discovered as to why geese fly this way. Each bird flaps its wings creating uplift for the bird immediately following. A flock has a greater flying range in formation than a single bird would have on its own. When a goose falls out of formation, it feels the drag and resistance of trying to fly alone and quickly rejoins the formation. The goose takes advantage of the lifting power of the bird in front. The geese in formation honk from behind to encourage those flying up front to keep their speed. When a goose gets sick or wounded and falls out of formation, two other geese will fall out of formation with that goose to follow it down to lend help and protection. They stay with that fallen goose until it is able to fly or it dies. Only then do they launch out on their own or with another formation to catch up with their flock. People, who share a common direction and sense of community, can reach a goal more quickly and easily because they are traveling on the thrust of one another. It is harder to do something alone than together. It is beneficial to take turns doing demanding work. By sharing leadership and depending upon others in a group, there is a chance to lead and an opportunity to rest.” – Anon.
