LIBYA: THE BRUTAL END OF AN ERA

The fall of Libyan strongman Col Muammar Kadhafi is a sound Victory against repressive regime around the world. What happened in Libya is the result of 42 years of repression and grinding exploitation of the people by the Qadhafi clan; protesting against the longest serving ruler in Arab world's and Africa continent. Every anti-democratic knew his tenure is going to elapsed and his has last lost the legitimacy to rule.

The self- serving despot and international terrorism supporter met his final doom early February,2011 when he called his own people rats and cockroaches in a national address on State run television and ordered Pro-government agent opening using deadly weaponry e.g. Mortar, Fighter jet, GPMG and Helicopter gunship used in Conventional warfare against peaceful demonstrator, he pledged to rule. Kaddafi's wild words show he hasn't learned anything from his Pan-Arabism brother late Saddam Hussein of Iraq.

Overtime, Ghadafi brought in Mercenaries from sub Saharan African, Eastern Europe and Asia to prop-up his regime against the wish of the masses, which are in dire need of democratic governance for the past years. Anarchy took over in Benghazi, Albiya, Zawiya , Misurata and Tripoli were government building and offices were set on fire and few days later the cities in the East and western part of the country fall into anti-government protesters. The Libyan dictator had forgotten that Libyan revolt is not like the Hungary rebellion of 1956 that was crushed by Soviet tank during the cold-war era. Libya had long been the defunct USSR's closest ally in the Arab world, but when Soviet power weakened at the end of the 1980,s that led to the collapsed of the Warsaw pact Kadhafi moved to improved ties with the West.

Despite the threat of civil-war by one of Qadhafi's most son Saif-al-islam, that the instability in Libya against- his father's rule will be crushed and is a nightmare, that Kadhafi dynasty will fight to the last man blood, even if Western- powers intervene, that the strongman of the Maghreb region will not step down or vacate the saddle of power for any person, that the people power demonstration is been sponsored by Islamist element outside Libya led by al- Qaeda founded by the late Taliban chieftain Osama bin laden. The patriotic Libyan Army and police are solidly behind his tyranny Father and Gadhafi also tell Libyan I'll die a Martyr. That shown how an African-Arab despotic ruler governs the masses.

The crude behavior of the tyrant goes back to yester- years of the likes of the defunct Soviet Union dictator, Joseph Stalin, Adolph Hitler of Germany, Pol-Pot of Cambodia and Milosevic of Serbia etc who opening exterminated their peoples.

The Maximum ruler,Col Moammar Gadhafi has refused to stand down amid widespread anti-government protests and vows to remain the revolutionary leader despite the international outcry.

Forgetting that his at the helm of an illegal ship of state.

The ferocious street fighting was reminiscent of the Tiananmen Square in China in 1989, but stiff resistance from the people, no body would have believed this years ago, really marvel the entire world.

The United State secretary of state Hilary Clinton has denounce Kaddafi massacred of the anti-government protesters and it offered condolence for Victims of appalling Violence and urged the Libyan govt to respect the rights of its citizens. The African Union and Libyan close ally Russia condemned the bloody massacred, while Iranian hardliner revolutionary leader Mahmoud Ahmadinejah condemned Kadhafi use of force against demonstrators calling it grotesque and urges him to step down for the peoples.

The Libyan leader Muammar Kadhafi, Ghadafi, Qaddafi, Al- Qadafi, Gadhafi, El- Ghadafi, Kaddafi or Gadfly fondly called by his disciples in the height of his glory in early 70's, socialism was his philosophy and his interested in Material progress for his people, thereafter he looted the state treasuring and massively enriched himself and finally, become the mortal enemies of the Libyan peoples who has been grooming his son Saif-Al- Islam to succeed him before he lost grip of authorities to the peoples power demonstration against his autocratic rule.

Gadfly had ruled the oil-rich North African states for the past four decades He came to power in 1969 in a bloodless coup in Tripoli, the Libyan Capital against the monarch, King Idris I, and an agent of imperialist.

Gadhafi who does not believe in ballot boxes, but in guns his downfall, was long overdue and is well deserved. No fly zone over Libyan, ban on all Fights in Libyan airspace with the exception of humanitarian Flights, really help to consolidate the nationalist forces This is a sound policy by the United Nation's, to protect civilian amid an uprising; if the coalition Forces ( NATO) were not in Libya, The Kadafi forces with its foreign mercenaries in bulk, would seize control of the country's second largest city Benghazi. Since then, Kadafi has started discrediting the international forces as colonial crusader.

On April, the Libyan leader Moammar Qaddafi escaped a NATO missile strike in Tripoli that killed one of his sons and three young grand children, immediately Gadhafi's forces indiscriminately resume shelling and fired Russian made Grad rockets, against rebel held western towns of Misurata and Zinta, which Amnesty International and others rights groups say should not be used in civilian areas, but directed at unarmed people.

The people's power victory against the great brutality and inhuman government mark the end of a brutal era and is to bring about democratic governance for the first time, Since Libya became a nation-state.

The corrupt people's servant Al- Gadhafi had failed. His downfall and former Cote'd Ivorian President Laurent Gbagbo must serve as a lesson to those sit-tight leaders still in saddle of power in Africa, namely Marxist-Leninist Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe a close ally of Kadhafi, Paul Biya of Cameroon, Blaise Campoare of Burkina-Fasso, Teodore Obiang of Equatorial- Guinea, Yoweri Museveni of Uganda who recently won in quash Presidential election and sworn in Amidst protests for another fourth term in Kampala and Chadian President Idris Derby etc.

As former Nigerian President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, recently at international forum advised “sit-tight African leaders that time was running out on them to take a cue and bow out peacefully. He urges African leaders to realize that there was life after the State house” eloquently.

The despotic ruler in his reigned of terror, no freedom of expression, arbitrary arrest, detention and secret execution of his presumed opponent by his special forces led by one of his beloved son. The United States of America foremost civil-right leader, late Dr Martin Luther King, Jr,”injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere declared.

The Hurricane of change which started Dec, 2011 in North African States of Tunisia had spread like a wide fire around the entire Arab world. Political change for the first time against dictatorial conservative regime, which failed to embrace freedom and democracy. Serves a deterrent to dictators.

The people need reforms, dividend of good governance were they will enjoy the basis need of the society, not using excessive force against popular uprising.

The former Libyan strongman, Qaddafi during his reigned of power, exported terrorism around the globe and sponsored Palestine Liberation organization (PLO) militant wing under the leadership of late Yasser Arafat, lrish Republican Army (IRA), National Patriotic Front of Liberia.(NPFL) led by former war-lord and President of Liberia Charles Taylor, now facing war crime at The Hague, Netherland for his role of aiding rebel movement, Revolutionary United Front (RUF) in neighboring Sierra-Leone during the brutal civil-war. Goukonni Queddei of Chad, Communist rebel of Philippine, Cassamance rebel in Senegal and Tuareg secessionists' movement in Mail etc to overthrow legitimate government, Bombing of Aircraft, attacked, Hijacked and Kidnapped of innocent people to promote his wicked political adventure.

Lest I forget in 1979 he sent a battalion of troops to fight alongside the late Ugandan dictator, self-styled Field Marshall Idi Amin Dada, but was uprooted by the well discipline soldiers from neighboring Tanzanian sent by the late African elderstateman and Pan-Africanist Dr Julius Nyerere to assist exiled Ugandan nationalist forces deposing Dictator Idi Amin.

It was a moment of joy in Libya and elsewhere around the world that the Libyan dictator and his presumed heir apparent Saif-aI-slam are no more in power but in hiding.

Hitherto, that the so called rat and cockroaches had finally bitten the once fearful Kadhafi clan.
The Transitional National Council (TNC's) triumph was remarkable but the quality of leadership the ordinary Libyan's want to see is the quality of sincerity of purpose, unlike the deposed ruler who claimed to be a revolutionary leader.

The recognition of the people's government by the west and some member's state of the continental body; African Union (AU) had really exposed that people's power really matters in governance, power belong to the masses.

The interim President says he is hopeful that he will not let Libyan's down for peace and stability will reigned after months of turmoil and mayhem by the Kadhafi clans.

The TNC according the United Kingdom's Foreign secretary William Haque that National Transitional Council had shown its commitment to a ''More open and democratic Libya. In stark contrast to Gaddafi whose brutality against the Libyan people had stripped him of all legitimacy''

I call on the international criminal court prosecutor under the leadership of Luis Moren Ocampo who had earlier seek warrant arrests for Gadhafi, his son Saif al-Islam and Intelligence Chief Abdullah al-Sanussi and the transitional government in Libyan to see that AL-Qadhafi's cohorts, the murderers of the Libyan people; butchers are brought to trial to account for their stewardship and crimes against humanity during the violent crackdown on the people.
