Armed robber shot dead

December 10, 2010 Kumasi, Dec 10, GNA - A suspected robber was killed in a fire-fight with personnel of the Ashanti Regional Police Buffalo Unit at Ayeduase, near the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology on Thursday night.

The deceased was identified as Nana Yaws.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Patrick Timbillah, the Regional Police Commander, told journalists that the police received information that a robbery gang had struck at Ayeduase at about 2215 hours and patrol team was dispatched to the area.

The robbers opened fire and Nana Yaw was captured but three of his colleagues escaped.

Mr Timbillah said the robber died when he was being taken to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital and that he suspected those who escaped had gunshot wounds.

He appealed to the health facilities and traditional healers to report to the police when they come to them for treatment.
