Man arrested for allegedly defiling 12-year-old pupil

Accra, Feb. 9, GNA - A 45-year-old man popularly called Alhaji C.O.O Moko was on Tuesday arrested by the Nima police for allegedly defiling a 12-year-old primary four pupil.

Family told GNA that the suspect took advantage of the victim and defiled her on three occasions and threatened her not to disclose the ordeal to anyone.

The victim narrating her ordeal to the Nima Police said she sells treated water at the Mamobi market after school.

She said on the first occasion on arrival at home in the afternoon from the market, the suspect sent her to buy cigarettes and asked her to bring them to his room.

"When I got to the room, suspect pulled me to his bed, took off my panties and defiled me. I could not endure the pain therefore, he took some shea butter smeared it on his manhood and continued" the girl said.

When asked whether she shouted, victim said the suspect threatened to stab her with a knife and a fork, and should not tell anyone about her ordeal otherwise he would kill her and "hide her body in the porch of her aunt a co- tenant and report the matter to the police who would arrest her aunt for murder".

According to the victim in order not to put her life and that of her aunt in danger, decided to keep mute over the incident.

An aunt of the victim said she returned from a journey only to find her niece seriously sick and complained of headache.

She said when the girl was sent to the Ridge Hospital it was confirmed that she has been defiled.

When the Nima police went to arrest the suspect, the wife lied to the personnel that her husband was not in the house.

The police insisted on entering the room where the suspect was found and arrested.

He pleaded with the police to report later but the police refused and arrested him to the Greater Accra Regional Office of Domestic Violence and Victim's Support Unit of the Ghana Police Service DOVVSU for further investigations.
