The Volta Regional Police Commander has issued a stern warning to criminals who are journeying to the Volta Region to embark on their criminal activities. According to him, there is a major pounce on these criminals from the Ashanti, Eastern and Greater-Accra Regions and due to intense operation by the Police Service; many of the criminals have fled to the Volta Region to seek refuge with some others also trooping in. The Police force he says, is masked to teeth to clamp down on any criminal activities should any of such activities ignite anywhere in the Region. The Police Commander however cautioned the public to be wary of such criminals and should not hesitate to get police personnel informed should they hear of any of such activities cropping up from any part of the Region.
Meanwhile, the Volta Police have nabbed a 40-year-old hardened criminal at Aflao in a swoop carried out recently. Daniel Akpalu, the suspect in an earlier encounter had threatened to take the life of one National Security Personnel saying, “I will kill you. I have human parts in an idol I will invoke to kill you”. In the operation, the Police had retrieved 2 big pots in his house with human skulls were found. The suspect, Daniel Akpalu is in Police custody.
In a related operation also carried out recently, the Volta Police has arrested 21 suspected criminals including 19 males and 2 females in the Ho Central Market area in the Ho Central District. During the swoop, quantities of dried plant suspected to be Indian Hemp and 40 wrapped substances suspected to be cocaine were retrieved from the criminals. Also retrieved from the drug-peddlers were offensive weapons such as machetes, daggers, pairs of scissors, knives and an E-zwich Card belonging to one Yvonne. The 21 suspects are also in Police custody.
