Christian Brucestag A twenty-six-year-old unemployed man is in the grips of the Accra Regional Police Command for snatching a KIA Pride taxi from its driver.

According to the Regional Crime Officer, Superintendent Denis Ako-Dem Abade, Christian Brucestag, in the company of one John Emmanuel Bansah, 25, on Saturday May 9, 2009 at about 8:30pm boarded the KIA Pride taxi with registration number GT 1582-09 from Coastal Teshie to Farm Vivian at Lashibe.

On reaching a location near Community 16, the duo ordered the driver to stop and thereafter dragged him out of the cab at gunpoint.

While they were bolting with the car, an eyewitness in a bid to save the situation threw a concrete block at the robbers, causing the taxi to veer off the street and fall into a ditch.

When the patrol team which had had information about the crime surfaced at the scene, it was noticed that Christian and his accomplice had taken cover in an uncompleted building.

It took the police almost four hours to sight them, by which time John had managed to escape.

The police are therefore appealing to members of the public who might have information about John's whereabouts to contact the police.

The police retrieved from Christian, a locally manufactured gun, a spent cartridge and a machete which are being kept as exhibits at the police station.
