Mrs Zita Okaikoi, Minister for Information   The Minister for Information, Hon. Mrs Zita Okaikoi has expressed the necessity for all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to be linked to the Government Portal (www.ghana.gov.gh) to enable the public especially investors and foreigners to have easy access to information on government issues and issues that concern the country as a whole.

The Minister said this when Mr Olaf Erz, the Country Manager for the International Institute for Communication and Development (IICD) called on her to formally meet and inform her of the collaboration between the two institutions over the years.

Mrs Zita Okaikoi appealed to Mr Olaf Erz to help the Ministry to establish the link of all MDAs to the Government Portal and continue to render their support to the Ministry.

Mr Olaf Erz, informed the Minister of the collaboration with the Ministry, which started far back in 2001, when the Ministry tried to set up a National Information Clearing House (NICH) to serve as an information repository for the MDAs, however the support from IICD actually begun when the Ministry made an attempt to create a national website, and this has been functioning till date.

He also mentioned that, since 2006, IICD has been involved in the activities of the Community Information Centres (CICs) especially in the Northern Region and are basically under the Ministry of Communication while the Information Service Department (ISD) manages their content.
