Birim Central Municipal Mutual Health Insurance Scheme registers 131,287 clients

Birim Central Municipal Mutual Health Insurance Scheme Secretariat at Akim Oda has so far registered 131,287 clients by the end of last year.

This represents 73.2 per cent of the Municipality's population of 179,349, Mr Charles Obeng Darko, Municipal Scheme Manager, disclosed to Ghana News Agency in an interview at Akim Oda in the Eastern Region.

He said it collected 83,013 Ghana cedis as registration fees, 191,928 Ghana cedis as premium by the end of December 31, last year and paid 3,043,814 Ghana cedis in claims.

Mr Darko said most of the diseases were, diabetes, diarrhoea, eye problems, malaria, skin diseases, respiratory tract infection, hypertension, asthma and arthritis.

He said the scheme was established to ensure affordable, accessible and quality health care delivery to the people and advised the clients to renew their registration yearly.
