Wa Municipality residents undertake cleanup

Residents of the Wa Municipality on Saturday undertook a cleanup exercise to rid the area of filth to promote environmental cleanliness.

The Police, the members of the Municipal Assembly Zoomlion workers, political party supporters, staff of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU), market women and students desilted gutters, swept the streets, livestock markets, the police station and lorry station at Wa.

Mr. Rufai Mohammed, Municipal Coordinating Director, said the assembly organized exercise to sensitise the people on the importance of environmental cleanliness in response to President John Evans Atta Mills pledge to make Ghana a clean place within the first 100 days in office.

He said the exercise would be sustained to promote environmental hygiene to make the Municipality one of the cleanest areas in the country and praised the people for the massive turn out.
