A 25-year-old auto-electrician,
Yaw Adade was on Wednesday sentenced to eight years imprisonment
by Asamankese Circuit Court for defiling a 13-year-old school girl.
Adade who pleaded guilty wept when convicted and pleaded with
his uncle, father of the victim to forgive him.
The presiding judge, Mr Emmanuel Siame pointed out that
defilement cases were rampant in the area and efforts should be made
to curtail it.
Deputy Superintendent of Police, K. G. Adu prosecuting said the
accused and victim live at Nyadoa in West Akim District and sometime
in October last year, accused proposed love to the victim who
accepted and in the cause of their amorous relationship, accused
defiled the victim on four occasions.
He said during the Christmas holidays, victim left for Accra to
spend the holidays with an aunt, but she detected that the victim was
pregnant and informed the victim’s father about it.
The prosecution said after the holidays, the victim returned to
Nyadoa and when her father questioned her about the one responsible
for her pregnancy, she mentioned the accused.
He said when the accused was confronted in the presence of some
elders at Nyadoa he denied the pregnancy and complain was made to
the police who gave the victim a medical form for medical examination.
The prosecution said accused was arrested and after investigations
charged with the offence.
