Sometimes we forget were we came from and who we are, ever since i started going back home since 2001 is a shame to say nothing have really change, especially the mentality of Ghanaians,im afraid to say that include my own Friends, family,as soon as you get off the flight at kotoka then things start to hit you,im fed up of people say to me this Ghana and the law is different, from the immigration officer to getting ur bags to the last exit each and every one is the law and they will demand ur passport and something(money)to me is a disgrace for anyone to go thru all that,
You wake up the next day in a lovely weather and everyone will be your best friend until your broke, from the kenkey seller to the superintendent in the police station all want money,i dont really want to know or someone to say this Africa, don't forget 90% of us that left Ghana will be going back at some stage to live, and we don't want money to influence authority, because by doing that you create this illusion that your only respected with money,we need to change this mentality.
Talking about mentality,i was at the tema harbour trying to get out my jeep that i ship from Scotland, from the moment i got to the harbour ,i was swam up with the so call AGENT that don't have a clue what they are doing,it was so bad i have to pay and agent to see my own car including the security to see my own car,i have to get another agent to price the car for me,because the first agent i talk to was going on about my left hand drive so much he ask me to give him $200.00 before he will even get off his back side, after getting about 4 different quote, i ask my friend why cant we see a price list of all charges, his reply was exactly what i expected, the price list is on the Internet with VAT display and the so call agents have the real list,
And the worst of all this you get your car and half of the car parts are missing and no one have answers, and you cant drive a car in Ghana if you live aboard,is so frustrating, either the police will tell you,(WE GOING TO THE STATION)or your licence is not correct or why do you live in Europe and still have a Ghanaian driving licence , we have to start questioning ourselfs,we that are living in Europe make up 2.5% of the Ghanaian economy, when we send money to our family for various reasons,we pump so much money into the country the law makes have to start doing something,in the harbour and the airport.
We love our country,we sit in our homes all over europe and america, asia listening and reading the news on the Internet and wishing we were at home in Accra, kumasi, tamale, cape coast etc, enjoying our motherland because home sweet home,we want to come home to a better Ghana,a Ghana were freedom is the norm,a ghana were we truly love,GOD BLESS MY HOME LAND GHANA
THANK YOU
