THE Scheme Manager of the Atwima Nwa-biagya Mutual Health Insurance Scheme, Mr. James Agyarko Poku, has expressed concern about the way some health facilities in the district refuse to accept health insurance cards when they attend hospital for medical treatment.

He has appealed to doctors and nurses to desist from giving shabby treatment to bearers of the NHIS cards and rather treat them with care and give them the necessary attention anytime they seek medical attention.

Mr. Agyarko Poku was addressing an annual Health Performance review workshop at Nkawie in Ashanti.

He said reports reaching his office indicate that some doctors and nurses in the district had made it their stock-in-trade to hurl insults on bearers of the NHIS cards when they call for medical treatment.

Mr. Agyarko Poku announced that a total of 115,838 clients had been registered in the district with 77,997 card bearers while a total of GH¢254,540.60 premiums had been paid.
