Mr. Isaac Gyimah, Ahafo–Ano South District Director of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), has implored Ghanaians to uphold the rights of children to ensure their total development.

He said they should create an enabling environment to protect them against all forms of abuse which could have serious and long –lasting consequences on their lives.

Mr. Gyimah was speaking at a day's sensitization workshop on child rights and related issues organized by the Mankranso Seventh–Day Adventist Church at Mankranso.

He noted that children, since time immemorial had remained a strategic human resource base as they represented the hope and future of every nation, stressing that in view of this the nation should be proactive in addressing the various challenges that impeded their development.

The NCCE District Director said stakeholders should, for instance campaign seriously against child labour and trafficking, as well as the engagement of children as sex slaves since these practices were dehumanizing.

Mr. Gyimah commended the SDA church for organizing the programme and called on other churches to take child rights issues seriously for the benefit of the nation.
