Charles Owusu has strongly criticised the actions of a truck driver whose negligence resulted in an accident that damaged a newly imported train intended to revitalise Ghana's railway sector.
The incident occurred when a Diesel Multiple Unit (DMU) train, undergoing a test drive, collided with an abandoned Hyundai truck parked across a railway line on Thursday, April 18, 2024.
Speaking on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" morning show, Charles Owusu expressed shock and dismay at the reckless behavior of the truck driver, likening it to a suicide bombing attempt due to the potential for catastrophic consequences.
"It's beyond madness," Owusu exclaimed, surprised at the driver's decision to park the vehicle on the railway tracks with no apparent regard for the safety of others.
He emphasised the gravity of the situation, asserting that such irresponsible actions warrant strict punishment.
"He is like a suicide bomber. What he (driver) did is equal to suicide bombing," Owusu stated.
He further labelled the driver's actions as "foolishness," emphasising, “God doesn’t heal foolishness.”
The Ghana Police Service apprehended the driver, identified as Abel Dzidotor, and launched an investigation into the matter.
Following their findings, Dzidotor was charged and subsequently sentenced to a six-month jail term after pleading guilty to three of the four charges brought against him, including inconsiderate driving and causing unlawful damage to state property.

He got the opportunity to address the incident of the train accident, but instead of tackling it fully, he has found it convenient to go for the "low hanging fruit" - the truck driver! Why was this dude not talking about the proper check on the rail line that the Minister should have undertaken?? And what was the real motive of the Minister posting that photo-shopped picture??
