What Is So Christ-Like About Alan Kyerematen, Mr. Thompson?

Feature Article What Is So Christ-Like About Alan Kyerematen, Mr. Thompson?
APR 18, 2024 LISTEN

It is rather amusing to observe that while he disingenuously attempts to impugn the critical-thinking skills and the linguistic acumen and facility of a sizeable majority of Ghanaian journalists and media operatives, Mr. Kofi Thompson, himself a quite prolific media columnist, woefully fails to demonstrate the very level of literacy to which the writer would have many an average Ghanaian media professional aspire.

Put into simple English, if you cannot correctly spell the last name of the pathologically narcissistic and insufferably egomaniacal leader of the so-called Butterfly Party or the so-called Movement for Change, to wit, “Kyeremateng,” instead of “Kyerematen,” and yet smugly claim to be of a superior literary caliber than those who promptly and accurately picked up the strategically snide attempt by Alan Cash – as Mr. Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen is popularly known – to cunningly and deviously inject the touchy and the volatile subject of religion into the 2024 Presidential Election, in hopes of creating massive public disaffection and electoral ruination for Vice-President Mahamudu Bawumia, the man who decisively defeated the longest-serving Trade and Industry Minister in Ghana’s Fourth Republic, then, of course, it goes without saying that you have absolutely no business cavalierly pretending to be what you clearly are not, namely, impeccably literate (See “Alan Kyremateng referred to Christ-like leadership - he never said Ghana should have a Christian leader” Modernghana.com 4/10/24).

Even assuming hypothetically that, indeed, a remarkable majority of Ghanaian journalists may woefully be lacking professionally appreciable critical-thinking and analytical skills, could Critic Thompson also make the same case for or against Mr. Frank Annoh Dompreh, the New Patriotic Party’s Member of Parliament for Nsawam-Adoagyiri Constituency, in the Eastern Region, who also doubles as the Chief Whip of the Parliamentary Majority Caucus, and one of the first key operatives of the very political party establishment from which Mr. Kyerematen recently resigned his membership affiliation, for at least the second or third time around, to have taken on Alan Cash on this very particular subject?

And by the way, some critics and observers even claim that this is actually the fourth time that the self-proclaimed Fante native from Edweso/Ejisu and Kumasi-Patasi, both in the Asante Region, has called it quits from the ruling New Patriotic Party. Bullocks, indeed, Brother Kofi! I mean, what was so “Christ-Like” about the widely touted former President John “The Gentle Giant” Agyekum-Kufuor’s pet Presidential Candidate’s serving as Nana Akufo-Addo’s Trade and Industry Minister for seven protracted years, and then resigning his cabinet portfolio, only to luridly thumb his nose at his most recent prime benefactor and publicly disparaging the twice-elected President Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as a know-nothing and a do-nothing leader who was full of hot air and absolutely “No Action” but “All Talk,” insultingly acronymized as “NATO”?

The fact of the matter is that Alan Cash is too unmannerly to cavalierly presume to lecture eligible and registered Ghanaian voters on the caliber of the Presidential Candidate they ought to be looking towards or forward to electing as their next leader, come the watershed December 2024 Presidential Election. Which is why it really means absolutely nothing, whether the comically self-styled Independent Candidate Kyerematen had admonished Ghanaian voters to elect a Christian-confessing Presidential Candidate as their next Chief Executive of State or a politician or a leader who exhibited the salient characteristics of Jesus Christ, a putative demigod whom, I swear to the High Heavens, Alan Cash could not readily identify, even if he met him on the dusty streets and the alleyways of Edweso/Ejisu or even Patasi, if both of them met today or even as Yours Truly writes.

Maybe somebody needs to “critically” inform Big Brother Kofi that being crafty and strategically and politically disingenuous has absolutely no advantage over telling it as it really is, in the memorable and the immortalized words of legendary African American Muslim Leader and Minister Malcolm X Shabazz.
