Kwesi Pratt Jnr., the Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, has raised concerns over the consistency of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia's pledge to limit the size of his government to 50 ministers and deputy ministers.

Mr. Pratt's doubts follow the official launch of Dr. Bawumia's campaign team, which reportedly comprises 40 members.

Dr. Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), had previously assured Ghanaians that he would appoint no more than 50 ministers and deputy ministers if elected president.

This commitment was outlined during an address at UPSA on Wednesday, February 7, where he stressed the feasibility of working with this limited number to achieve his vision and policies for the nation.

“I would have not more than 50 ministers and deputy ministers,” Bawumia pledged.

However, the launch of his campaign team made up of prominent figures like Dan Botwe, Nana Akomea, and Fred Oware, has led Kwesi Pratt to question the consistency of Dr. Bawumia's promise.

During a discussion on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" morning show, Pratt expressed his reservations about the size of the campaign team, suggesting it raises doubts about the NPP flagbearer's ability to adhere to his commitment of using few ministers in his government.

"Those who do the actual campaign in their thousands. Some will just wear T-shirts, others will advise, and there are others who would take the materials somewhere; there are a lot, so not everyone's name appears on the list.

“There wouldn't be any paper to contain the names. Therefore, we sift them and list only the key figures who can do the campaign.

“What Dr. Bawumia and his team did yesterday, if they had done it differently, it would have been better. It's not every person's name that should be mentioned in the list," Pratt remarked during the interview.

He further emphasized the inconsistency, stating, "You said those you would work with in your government are 50, but your campaign team is 40, why?"
