NBU-YEC officers train SOS children at boot camp programme

Junior High School leavers of all SOS Children’s Villages locations across the country benefited from a day’s training held in Kumasi through the facilitation of the No Business as Usual Youth Empowerment Center (NBU-YEC) Project on Thursday 7th September.

Converging at the SOS Children’s Villages-Kumasi of the Asokore Mampong Municipality for this year’s week-long boot camp, officers of the NBU YEC used day one of their meeting to train and motivate the youth who are prospecting for another academic life at the Senior High School.

The engagement was held in partnership with Nurturing Dreams Ghana (NDG); a non-governmental organization focused on empowering young minds on how to identify and utilise opportunities in life.

Youth of SOS were merged with other vulnerable children within the municipality.

Roberta Aryeetey, NBU-YEC Project Coordinator informed the media that they saw the boot camp as a great opportunity to inspire and train them for their next academic life and hope that they will make informed decisions and do the right thing during their next level of education.

Participants were taken through a mind lecture on the topic “Prepare to be Preferred”, done jointly by Evelyn Deladem Dogbatse-Founder and Lead Nurturer for Nurturing Dreams Ghana and Samuel Ansi Jnr, CEO for Premor Limited.

The duo trained the JHS leavers on the need to treat life as a privilege, be grateful for whatever kindness shown them, how to form deep and meaningful connections with people among others.

“They should know that nobody owes them care, love or material resources and so therefore any kind of kindness they receive from people should be treated by them as a privilege and they must be grateful as well for that. They should express gratitude in their attitude,” Deladem Dogbatse stated.
