The Bassare community in the Ashanti Region has commended the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, for his commitment to advancing intra-ethnic co-existence in the region and the country in general.

The community expressed its gratitude to the Asantehene for particularly bridging the gap that existed between some ethnic groups in the region since he ascended the Golden Stool.

Mr Moro Mohammed Gawu, Chief of Bassare community in Ashanti made the commendation at a get-together of the regional branch of the Bassare Youth Association in Kumasi on Sunday.

He impressed upon leaders of the various ethnic groups in the region to strive to complement Otumfuo's efforts by always sensitising their people to be tolerant of each other no matter one's ethnic background for the sustenance of the peace the region was enjoying.

Ethnic leaders, he said, should also entreat their youth to shun violence, avoid joining gangs as well as refraining from intra-ethnic conflicts for accelerated development of the region.

Chief Gawu called on the Bassare community to invest in their children's education to enable them turn out responsible adults and citizens.
