OCT 28, 2022 LISTEN

An aspiring General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Elvis Afriyie Ankrah has called for a new direction to save Ghana from the brink of collapse.

He reiterated that Ghana is virtually collapsing in the hands of Nana Akufo-Addo and therefore there is an urgent need for a change in government.

According to him, this must happen to salvage the situation Ghanaians find themselves in.

He noted that the NDC will need new leadership to make this change a reality, hence, the reason he is contesting for the position of General Secretary.

He spoke to the media when he paid a courtesy call on the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osmanu Sharubutu on Thursday, October 27 2022, to receive his blessings ahead of the contest.

Justifying why he is fit for the position of General Secretary, he said he has directly been involved in party affairs and is very experienced in leading the party.

He recounted that he was a parliamentary candidate in the year 2000, and has served as deputy general secretary, a minister of state, and a director of elections amongst other roles in the name of the party.

He noted that the 8 souls that were lost in the 2020 elections under the watch of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) were unfortunate and unpardonable therefore the NDC needs a leader who is a fighter to be able to face NPP and win elections.

He said the chief Imam represents the pillars of the country and therefore he needs his blessings to win that contest.
