Failed 2017 Ellembelle DCE accuses current DCE of his defeat
27 MAY 2022 LISTEN

The Ellembelle Constituency New Patriotic Party Organizer, Mr. Stephen Donkor has accused the incumbent Ellembelle District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr. Kwasi Bonzoh of succeeding in working against him to become the DCE of Ellembelle District in the Western Region.

Mr. Stephen Donkor who is the current Senior Manager of Ghana National Gas Company was nominated by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in 2017 to be Ellembelle DCE but was totally rejected by the then Assembly Members of Ellembelle District Assembly.

Out of the 52 Assembly Members, Mr. Stephen Donkor managed to get 11 votes and was subsequently replaced by Mr. Kwasi Bonzoh who managed to get the majority of the votes to become Ellembelle DCE.

Mr. Stephen Donkor who has been declining to speak publicly on his defeat, has for the first time broken silence on his defeat.

According to him, he lost in 2017 as the DCE nominee all because of Kwasi Bonzoh who was his 2016 Ellembelle NPP Parliamentary Candidate.

He claimed that the current Ellembelle DCE and his associates painted him black before the Assembly Members and eventually led to his rejection.

He added that since then, Kwasi Bonzoh has been attacking him without any reason.

"I am conscious of the fact that such vicious attacks on my person did not start today. The people of Ellembelle will recall that when I was nominated as a prospective DCE of the District in 2017, the same Mr. Kwasi Bonzoh and his cohorts tagged me with all sorts of vituperations which eventually led to my rejection by the Assembly Members", he claimed.

Mr. Stephen Donkor made the claims in a press statement issued on Tuesday, May 24, 2022.

He also revealed in his statement that Kwasi Bonzoh has accused him of his failure to become MP for Ellembelle Constituency in 2020.

"As if that was not enough, after 2020 general elections Mr Bonzoh and his surrogates accused me of inciting party members against the three(3) NPP parliamentary candidates in Jomoro, Ellembelle and Evalue Ajomoro Gwira to lose the elections. As a result, BNI officers commissioned by a committee were at my office to take my statement in their investigation", he disclosed.

He stated that Kwasi Bonzoh was working hard for him to be kicked out from the Ghana National Gas Company as the company's Senior Manager.

"I am over convinced that one of the topmost priority of Hon DCE, Bonzoh is to hunt me out of Ghana Gas, hence his constant attacks on me and my associates", he said.

He therefore, emphasized that, "I want to assure Hon. Kwasi Bonzoh, that I am not perturbed by such antics but rather resolved in contributing my quota to the betterment of Ghana Gas and assist my CEO to create more opportunities for the good people of Ellembelle, Nzema and the nation at large".

He took the opportunity to debunk an allegation being circulated on social media and in Ellembelle that he (Kwasi Bonzoh) recommended him to be employed by Dr. Ben Asante as the Senior Manager of Ghana National Gas Company.

He said he was employed by the company after going through rigorous interview and not through any recommendation from Kwasi Bonzoh.

"It has been reported to me (Stephen Donkor) on several occasions that Mr Kwasi Bonzo has been touting at very little opportunity that he recommended me to be engaged by Ghana Gas and that without his recommendation there was not going be the slightest opportunity for me to be engaged by the company.

"I find this assertion strange and mind boggling to say the least, the question is, in what capacity did he (Hon. Bonzoh) recommend me for the appointment? as a failed parliamentary candidate or as what?, that he was clothed with the powers to recommend people for appointment", he stated.

He emphasized, "It will interest you to know that I went through rigorous interview and was issued an appointment letter as any other person in Ghana Gas, hence my position as Senior Manager is not by an appointment of a so called recommendation from Hon Bonzoh".

He, therefore urged, "I (Stephen Donkor) will therefore urge the people of Ellembelle and Ghanaians in general to take it with a pinch of salt, if Hon Bonzo claims to be the architect of my engagement with Ghana Gas".

He continued, "My gratitude rather goes to Hon. Freddie Blay and Dr. Ben Asante for the confidence reposed in me and their continuous guidance to me."
