The weakness of democracy

Ninety percent of the Americans want stricter gun control laws like background checks but fifty Senators for years refused to pass the laws holding on to personal power. In Germany, infrastructure projects take years of political approval causing frustration, money loss, and a reduction in competitiveness with other nations.

Mankind has seen various forms of governance in many different forms. Ostracism of ancient Greece, Absolutism, Democracy, Dictatorship, and Kingdoms with or without Parliament, rule of one political party as in Communism, a Kibbutz-style government among others. Dictatorship is seen widely as evil as most times used too often by evil minds for personal gains only rarely by well-minded visionaries like in Singapore. Democracy on the other hand is praised in modern days giving the citizens a voice and the will be done inclusively.

Corona pandemic has called for ending long discussions but forcing vaccination into people's arms to protect the society. Brexit has exposed that MPs changed their minds after the election from leave to remain supporters, and vice-versa. To argue every four years the electorate can kick out the "fake" MPs and replace them with "real" MPs does not consider that the reverse of laws is very hard to do; to reverse Brexit will last for one or two generations, so for 25 to 50 years to come.

Ukraine war e.g. has exposed the weakness of many corners of the German democracy even the President Duda of Poland mentioned it in a WELT Media interview. Poland has exported its heavy military arsenal to Ukraine while Germany still has not supplied Poland with promised tanks to replace the great help to Ukraine because the German Parliament Bundestag has its say in it, and party discussions follow personal power interests.
