Concerned Youth Groups of the Governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Northern Region have expressed their dissatisfaction with the conduct of the party’s elections committee.

The 2022 regional executive elections would be held at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium on May 27.

The disgruntled group addressing Journalists in Tamale said the voters' register for the elections has not been made available to the contestants.

They claim that the register has also been tempered with.

The group alleged that the committee is siding with the current Regional Chairman of the party to subvert the sovereign will of the people.

Spokesperson of the group, Mr. Tahidu Suale noted that the Committee and other big wings in government have planned to deploy military to the venue of the elections to intimidate people.

According to him, the party elections is a family affair which requires no military presence at the venue.

Mr. Tahidu revealed that the elections committee during the aspirants' vetting took a unilateral decision by giving number one positions to the current Regional executives and still continues to manipulate the process.

Mr. Tahidu noted that the committee have also put serial numbers on the ballot papers for them to track delegates who will be voting.

He further appealed to individuals who matter in the party to intervene and ensure that a level playing field is assured all aspirants.

About 376 delegates from 18 constituencies are expected to participate in the election of regional officers.

Some 31 aspirants are vying for the ten positions in the region.

The incumbent chairman, Mohammed Adam Bantima Samba, a businessman will compete against Alhaji Amandu Inusah (‘Dagomba Boy’), a strong grassroots man and a businessman who is a past Yendi constituency chairman and Ibrahim Mahama, a farmer at the Kubungu District.
