Volta College donates to Kpando Prison inmates

Volta College (VC), a development-oriented Organization, base in the Volta Region has made a donation, worth GH¢6,000.00 to inmates of the Kpando Prison.

The donation which was done on Monday April 5, 2021 forms part of the group’s social responsibility.

Items donated include 3 bags of 25kg rice, cooking oil, cartons of tomato paste, 105 packs packs of toilet rolls, 5 containers of Liquid soap, 17 packs of assorted drinks, 10 bags of sachet water and packs of soap.

The rest are 5 sets of Water Closet, 11 buckets of paint & brush, washing powder, bars of key soap among others.

President of Volta College, Mr. Barry Williams after the donation said the organization was established to provide support to the less privileged in society especially people from the Volta Region.

Mr. Williams added, that the donation to the Kpando Prison inmates was to remind them, that they are not neglected because they are confined but they have people out there who care about them and are ready to support them during and after the reformation, to make the society a better place for all.

He appealed to Religious groups, NGO’s and other philanthropists to have prison inmates at heart since everyone can also find themselves in their position.

The Officer in-charge of the Kpando Prison, Assistant Director of Prisons (ADP) Eric Ainoo-Ansah received the items on behalf of the inmates and expressed his appreciation to the organisation.

He further appealed to other benevolent organizations to come to the aid of the inmates.

Members of Volta College then engaged the Prison officers in football, card playing and volleyball to climax the donation.

The Kpando Prison, which was established in 1920 currently, has about 123 inmates.
