NDC NDC UK And Ireland Chapter Hold Rally To Swear In Campaign Committee

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Chapter in the United Kingdom and Ireland on October 24, 2020, held a virtual rally to swear in a campaign committee to continue working towards helping the party achieve victory in the 2020 General Elections.

The rally which was held via zoom saw executives together with members from the chapters in the UK and Ireland, as well as Sweden and Belgium, and other countries participating.

Speaking as main guest speaker for the rally, Chairman of the NDC, Mr. Ofosu Ampofo congratulated the chapter on behalf of flagbearer Mr. John Dramani Mahama and his running mate Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang for their contribution to the success of the party.

By way of update, he disclosed to the chapters the various measures being put in place ahead of the December 7 polls including the establishment of an IT Service that will be in charge of accumulating all votes.

“Our focus in the few weeks to the election is to tighten our system of protecting the ballot and ensuring that there will be efficient and effective ballot accounting towards results delivery and declaration at all the 33,000 registration centres”, the Chairman Ofosu Ampofo said.

According to him, the NDC does not want to be overconfident but is cautiously optimistic about the kind of structures that they have put in place that victory will theirs at the end of the upcoming elections.

Mr. Ofosu Ampofo further charged the chapters in the diaspora to adopt branches and support party agents in feeding and provision of allowances to ensure victory is achieved at the end of the voting.

On his part, the Majority Leader in Parliament, Hon. Haruna Idrissu likened the country under the rule of the NPP government to a tortoise in a yam farm while noting that victory is assured for the NDC next month.

“Let me just assure you that H.E John Dramani Mahama is poised to return to the Jubilee House as president of our republic”, the outspoken MP said.

Hon. Haruna Idrissu added, “Our target is to win 47 additional more seats if not 55 and as I’m speaking to you today, I’m confident that 36 of them is grabbable and we can grab them”.

Following the swearing-in of the chapters campaign committee chaired by Former chairperson Kofi Kwakye, the group noted that they will continue to work in localized constituencies to help the national campaign of the NDC.

“On my own behalf, I want to thank the chapter committee for the work that they have done so far and the work that we anticipate they will do going forward”, Sam Quaye who spoke on behalf of committee chair Kofi Kwakye shared.

Speaking as a guest speaker at the virtual rally, the NDC’s International Relations, Director Hon Alex Segbefia applauded the UK and Ireland chapter for putting everything together.

He said with five weeks to the December 7 elections, the time for action is now as he noted that the NDC is poised for a major victory.

“When you do the comparison of the four years of Mahama against the four years of Nana Addo, literally there is no comparison. When you look at their manifesto there is nothing in it. When matching their leader to our leader, there is no comparison”, he indicated.

Hon Alex Segbefia insists that if the NDC is able to monitor the election and results from every polling station critically, there is no doubt John Dramani Mahama will be sworn in as President in January.

Taking her turn to speak at the rally, Ambassador Mrs. Zeta Benson extended appreciation to the chapter for working through adversity to help the NDC in its quest to win back power from the NPP government.

An optimistic, Alhaji Alhassan Mbalba NDC-UK & Ireland Chapter Chairman pledged the continuous work of the chapters to ensure the goals of the main opposition party is achieved at the end of the general elections.

Other executives who took part in the rally include the NDC UK and Ireland Chapter Secretary; Mike Dzidula Kudiabor, NDC UK and Ireland Chapter Organiser; Adamu Musah, NDC UK and Ireland Deputy Chapter Secretary; Awudu Sannie, as well as executives and members of diaspora members.
