If you don’t appreciate what you have, no one will appreciate it.
One of the things I have had to deal with while growing up is impostor syndrome – the feeling of self-doubt and inadequacy. The feeling that I am a fake and very soon I’ll be found out despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary.
As a kid, I suffered some personal tragedies which caused me to have low self-esteem which developed into impostor syndrome later on.
So sometimes I feel I suck as an entrepreneur, I suck as an engineer and I suck as a software developer….which is not true.
And here’s why it is not true.
Every single day, I get several emails from people who want some form of help or advice from me related to business or engineering.
I share with them my knowledge and my experience and they are very excited. I have a lot of people tell me on a daily basis that I inspire them. I land several speaking engagements in big places, I get many awesome opportunities just because of what I write …and I could go on and on.
So then this struck me: that I have something. Something special. I began to appreciate what I had, feel great about myself and committed to getting better in every aspect of my life.
