Tema, Oct 25, GNA - The National Commission on Civic Education (NCCE) would organise seven parliamentary debates for the three constituencies in the Tema Metropolis.

Out of the seven, two each would be held at Tema East and Central while Tema West would have three debates due to its dispersed composition.

Members of the Inter Party Dialogue Committee in Tema agreed that Tema East would have the debates at the Klejoo Tsoshishi in Tema Newtown and the forecourt of the Tema Metropolitan Assembly in Community One on November 8 and 11 respectively.

Tema Central candidates and residents would have their turn on November 24 and 26 at Communities 7 and 11 respectively while Tema West voters and candidates would have theirs on November 14, 16 and 18 at Community Two, Sakumono and Adjei-Kojo respectively.

Mr Isaac Kwame Antwi, NCCE Tema Metropolitan Director, said the debate would provide the platform for the candidates to sell themselves to voters.

He added that it would also enable the candidates to react with voters and address issues of concern in the various constituencies.

He, however, stated that to avoid unnecessary competition among candidates and supporters, his outfit has christened the interaction as a dialogue instead of a debate.

Mr Emmanuel Abuanor Nortey, Tema Metropolitan Coordinating Director and Chairman of the IPDC, commended committee members for their dedication to the promotion of peace.

He urged them to spread the message of peace further afield and serve as ambassadors for the December 7 elections.

Mr Nortey advised members and sympathisers of political parties to be tolerant and appreciate the views of each other since 'all of us cannot belong to one political party'. GNA
