Manchester United have shown Jose Mourinho the exit following their defeat to Liverpool on Sunday.
The owes of the Red Devils were increased after Jürgen Klopp's side defeating them by 3-1 at Anfield.
And United have decided that result was the final straw and have parted company with the former Chelsea and Real Madrid manager.
A statement released by the club on Tuesday morning read: "Manchester United announces that manager Jose Mourinho has left the club with immediate effect.
"The club would like to thank Jose for his work during his time at Manchester United and to wish him success in the future.
"A new caretaker manager will be appointed until the end of the current season, while the club conducts a thorough recruitment process for a new, full-time manager."
