Sergey Kovalev Pledges To Punish ‘Fake Champion’ Andre Ward

Ring magazine Fighter of the Year [2014], Sergey Alexandrovich Kovalev has sworn to ‘destroy’ Andre Award ahead of their much anticipated rematch on Sunday, June 18, 2017 in Las Vegas.

Speaking in an interview Sergey ‘The Krusher’ Kovalev, who lost his first professional boxing fight to the undefeated Andre Ward at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on November 19, 2016 said:

"I don't like this guy [Ward] and I want to punish him because he puts his nose really up right now. He knows that he lost," said Kovalev.

"I want to destroy him. I want to destroy this guy as a boxer, as a champion. For me, he is not a champion, he's a fake champion. He lives right now with this status; he's a fake champion,” Kovalev added.

"He believes in his victory over me and right now he's trying to get belief of people of this victory. It's wrong, for me, it's wrong," Kovalev angrily said.

Known for his sporadic speed and intelligence in the ring, Andre Ward holds the unified WBA [Undisputed], IBF, and the WBO light heavyweight titles.
