Berekum Chelsea takes on Bechem United in MTN FA Cup Round of 16

Defending champions of the MTN FA Cup, Bechem United will come face-to-face with Berekum Chelsea in a crunch regional derby in the top liner of the Round of 16 at the Golden City Park in Berekum.

Bechem United were crowned champions in the 2016 edition of the MTN FA Cup competition, having beaten Okwahu United 2-1 in a highly competitive match at the Cape Coast Stadium, but their progression into the next phase of this year’s competition looks gloomy as they come up against the Blues.

Speaking at the live draw held at the plush M Plaza hotel in Roman Ridge, Accra on Wednesday, FA Cup Committee Chairman [FACC], Kurtz E.S Okraku revealed that the FACC is yet to settle on a venue where the final match of this year’s competition is going to be played.

“Despite serious lobbying for the right to host the final match of this year’s event, I can say that the FA Cup Committee is yet to settle on a particular venue,” Kurtz revealed.

He however said the venue will be announced at the next draw and promised a grandiose event in this year’s finals.

Another match worthy of note is the match between Medeama SC and Premier League debutant – Elmina Sharks at the Tarkwa T&A Park.

According to the FA Cup Committee [FACC], the Round of 16 matches will be played from Friday, June 16 to Sunday, June 18.
