I Can Create 50,000 Jobs In Boxing – Napoleon Tagoe
23.03.2017 LISTEN

Former world rated boxer Napoleon Tagoe has hinted that he can create 50,000 jobs in boxing alone if he is given the opportunity and support by the government of Ghana.

Speaking to Yours Truly in an exclusive interview, Tagoe who is credited with the discovery of the site for the Bukom Boxing Arena / Gym said it is sad that in Ghana some people take credit for what they have not achieved, while the real people are sidelined.

Speaking bitterly, he noted that he was the one who showed the site near the Korle Lagoon for the Bukom Boxing Arena, yet when it was commissioned by ex-President John Mahama, his name was never mentioned and was not given any credit.

But the vociferous trainer and owner of Will Power Boxing Gym said the truth must come out, so he has been going from radio station to television station and allowing himself to be interviewed by the media.

He noted that the site was very filthy, but now it is a nice place for sports and he feels very proud that he contributed to the construction of the arena.

Napoleon Tagoe who hails from James Town like many boxers of Ghana said boxing has made him what he is today, and never regrets to be a boxer.

He noted that boxing can create jobs, and he is prepared to come out with a plan to employ 50,000 youth into boxing and that alone can solve part of the unemployment and anti-social vices.

According to Tagoe, he had traveled to many countries and been to 16 states in USA, where they make use of space, time and talent to boast the sport.

“I am ready to create 50,000 if the government can support me. We don’t need much to start. We need the people and a few funds to buy a few things and we are in big business” he said.

Napoleon Tagoe, who has trained tough boxers like Emmanuel Tagoe the Game Boy and Alfred Mensah aka The Tornado expressed that Ghana Boxing is alive because there are so many potential champions who have not been discovered.

He praised the promoters of recent boxing programmes especially, Street Wise and Errol Hawk for coming up with the “Freedom Fight Night” when three Ghanaians won three WBC Silver belts.
