Ghana picks four medals at ITF championship

Accra, Jan. 26, GNA - Ghana picked up four medals at the just-ended International Tennis Federation (ITF) under-18 tournament for West and Central Africa held in Lome, Togo. Ghana won a gold and bronze each plus two silver medals in the 13-nation tournament. A statement issued by the Ghana Tennis Association and signed by Mr C. K. Attah, General Secretary said Emmanuel Mensah and Owusu Manford won gold in the boys' doubles while Mensah again won silver in the boys' singles with an impressive performance. Emma Kudjoe and Kate Coleman also combined beautifully to win silver in the girls' doubles with Kudjoe picking up silver in the singles division.
The participating countries were host Togo, Ghana, Benin, Nigeria, Cote d'Ivoire, Senegal, Guinea, Liberia, Mali, Central Africa Republic, Gabon, France and Austria.
The team has since returned to Ghana.
