Women invited to take up soccer refereeing

Kyebi (E/R), Jan. 21, GNA - The East Akim District branch of the Referees Association of Ghana (RAG) has inviting its members and potential referees or people who want to become referees, especially women to a meeting and training workshop at Asiakwa SOS Village on January 29.

According to Mr. J. K. Boateng of the District Referees Association Secretariat, the programme would be used to upgrade the knowledge of members on new rules governing the profession and initiate new members into the Association.

He said it was the desire of the Association to encourage as many women as possible to take up the career in view of the development of women soccer and the contribution of women towards the development of refereeing.

In another development, the District Physical Education Organiser and Sports Development Officer, Mr William Darko, has announced the commencement of registration of Division Three clubs for the commencement of the District Division Three Soccer League later in the year. He has invited all interested football clubs in the district to register with him in the East Akim District.
