At the Kumasi Sports stadium, King Faisal beat Sekondi Hasaacas 2-1 to qualify to the next stage of the GHALCA special knockout competition in their second leg match on Sunday.

The first leg played at Sekondi two weeks ago ended goalless. Faisal opened the scores in the 13th minute through Eric Gawu when he connected a neat pass after goalkeeper Ekow Ampiah fisted the ball back into play from Hamza Mohammed's free kick.

Not deterred by this early goal, Hasaacas went into attack and nearly equalised in the 17th minute but Moses Andoh's shot hit the woodwork and bounced into the safe hands of goalkeeper Suraj Mohammed. The visitors however managed to equalise a minute later through Daniel Ocran whose terrific shot sailed into the net.

Faisal resumed the second half with determination to carry the day and put Hasaacas under severe pressure with Owusu Ampomah and Gawu missing targets in the 46th and 48th minutes respectively.

Let off the hook, Hasaacas with good inter-positional passes counter attacked but Andoh also missed a good chance to score in the 62nd minute.

The game became balanced but with Faisal slightly ahead of their opponents and they utilised a good chance in the 81st minute to score the winner.

It was again Hamza Mohammed who took a perfect free kick outside the penalty box of Hasaacas for Shilla Illiasu to head home for the match winner. 15 Aug. 04
