NSA BOSS THROWS WEIGHT BEHIND 4thUCI AFRICA PARACYCLING CHAMPS

Director General of the National Sports Authority Mr. Wolanyo Agra has thrown his unflinching support to the Local Organizing Committee in charge of the upcoming 4thAfrica Paracycling Championship to be staged in Ghana from the 10thto 11th of December.

The LOC paid a courtesy call to brief the NSA Boss about the importance of the event as well as progress of the LOC towards the event.

Mr. Agra said since the programme is geared towards the London 2012 Olympic Games, it was worthy for the government to throw its full support to this course. He further implored the LOC to keep working hard and indeed to see this assistance as a positive mark as part of the government's better Ghana Agenda in promoting Sports. Ghana gained the exclusive rights from the world governing body, the UCI to host this event which will automatically qualify team Ghana to the Olympic Games.

The African Paracycling Championship is a must qualifier event towards the London 2012 Olympic Games which will accrue maximum points for the various Para-athletes.

Categories to be competed include Hand cycling (HC), Blind Visual (BV), and Tricycle. Registered and confirmed Countries include South Africa, Kenya, Benin, Togo, Cote D'Ivoire, Niger, and foreign Para cyclists from Albania and Poland.

Meanwhile, the selection of the National Paracyclists would be held from Friday 18thto Monday 21st November 2011 which will be quickly followed up with the final residential training. Sponsorship drives have already showed up coming from IQRA Limited-dealers in bicycle equipments as well as Miklin Hotel, Promasidor Ghana limited and the National Sports Authority.

The LOC has since started its sponsorship drive and is calling on all corporate bodies to be part of this historic event.
