Ghana striker Junior Agogo has signed a lucrative deal to be an ambassador for telecommunication giants Glo.

The Cyprus-based player was unveiled on Tuesday as part of activities to roll out their services in the country.

Agogo will appear in adverts by Nigerian owned company who are keen to take the continent by storm with their services.

They have made forays into the football industry by taking up the sponsorship of the African Players of the Year awards by Caf.

Glo are also major sponsors of the Ghana top-flight league and are linked with several other football related goals in the country.

At a media briefing to outdoor Agogo and several other personalities from the entertainment industry, Mr David Naji, National Sales Coordinator of Globacom, the parent company of Glo Mobile Ghana, said the signing of the ambassadors adds up to the company's objective to roll out excellent and innovative telecommunications services that will transform the telecoms sector.

He urged the ambassadors, made of personalities who have made their mark in their respective fields, to continue to be positive role models and good ambassadors of the iconic Glo brand wherever they go in the world.

He emphasized Glo Mobile Ghana's commitment to encouraging best talents in the entertainment, music and sports industries, while urging the younger ones on in their quest to succeed to the level of their mentors.

Mr Naji announced that the signing-on of the ambassadors forms part of the countdown to the launch of Glo Mobile Ghana operations in the country.

He added that within the next couple of days, the Glo-1 submarine cable, which will carry data and internet traffic between West Africa and the rest of the World, will land in Accra.
