Diminutive Grace Afriyie grossed 221 over three days, to unseat defending champion Mona Myers Captan, 234, in hazy weather, to reign supreme in the country's biggest golf event, the Ghana Open.

For her brilliance, Grace, nicknamed 'Tico', took home the coveted giant trophy, as well as the running one, which Mona won last year, at the Celebrity Golf Club.

It was K. Young Hwa Kim who finished third in the ladies 'A' event, while Royal Golf Club lady captain M. I. Oppong, 213, won the Ladies 'B' category.

Young Jessica Tei, and past Tema Lady Captain, Mrs. Florence Etwi-Barimah, followed in that order in the 'B' category, with 216 and 222 gross respectively.

Hosted by the Tema Country Club (TCGC), and sponsored by Stanbic Bank for the second time running, the 77th edition attracted golfers from across the country and beyond.

The Men's category 'A' saw Francis Torgah clinching the ultimate with a 225 gross, also dethroning T. K. Govinous. F. Akafo, 226 and K Tettedzi, 227 followed in that order.

N. Norise, 262, won the men's 'B' event, past Tema captain, William Yeboah, 266 and Benee Tagboro, 272, finished second and third respectively.

The Head of Marketing, Mr. Mawuko Afadzinu, in a post-tournament address, indicated that having been inspired by their first involvement in the game of golf last year, they were motivated to continue their support for golf to ultimately achieve an equilibrium for an active lifestyle.

The President of the Ghana Golf Association (GGA), Professor George Ntsiful, commended the participants as well as Stanbic for making the 54-hole event a success. Stanbic injected GH¢15,000 into the competition.
