Ivorian striker Arouna Kone and Ghana midfielder Eric Addo retained the Dutch title with PSV Eindhoven on Sunday. The Eindhoven side won their third consecutive title in dramatic circumstances after routing visitors Vitesse Arnhem 5-1 in their final match.

The margin of victory gave Ronald Koeman's side the title by one goal over his former club Ajax who only managed a 2-0 win at Tilburg against Willem II. Despite winning the title, Addo will leave the club next month after refusing to extend his contract.

"It feels great to play an important part to help PSV to win yet another title," Addo told BBC Sport.

"It is sad that I am leaving such a great institution but it is always good to leave on a high note.

"I am confident that this club can win titles in future but I want also a different challenge to prepare myself for my country's hosting of the Nations Cup next year."

AZ Alkmaar had started the day in pole position in the knowledge that a win in their last match at Excelsior would secure them the title barring an avalanche of goals elsewhere.

However, Louis van Gaal's side lost 3-2.

It was the third consecutive title for PSV and a personal victory for Koeman who replaced Guus Hiddink last year and was a former coach of Ajax.

It was the Eindhoven outfit's fourth success in five seasons and qualifies them automatically for the Champions League.
