The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced that it has decided to form nine additional national teams.

The nine will include four more national teams for the boys category and five new girls national teams.

“The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has decided to form new developmental national teams in fulfillment of the needs in the National football philosophy. The decision which is in consultation with the Technical Directorate is geared towards full implementation of our football strategy and philosophy.

“The Executive Council has decided to form four new developmental National teams for boys and five for girls. As result, there will be (U-16, U-18, U-19 and U-21) for Boys and (U-16, U-18, U-19, U-21 & U-23) for Girls,” the Ghana FA announced on Thursday, March 21.

In the statement, the GFA said this strategy will not only ensure a smooth transition of players from one age group to the next age group but also ensure the country does not lose out on talents on the national front.

The association said the move will also offer a lot more of our trained coaches (using the DNA) opportunities at the elite level.

“Players from each of the age groups will progress automatically to the next level year after year as they will camp, train and play games three times every year for their development,” the Ghana FA statement added.
