Match Report: Accra Lions share spoils with Berekum Chelsea after 1-1 draw

Accra Lions showed impressive resilience on Friday afternoon to hold Berekum Chelsea to a 1-1 draw in the Ghana Premier League.

The 2023/24 Ghanaian top-flight league entered Round 3 today when the first of 9 scheduled games was played.

In the game between Berekum Chelsea and Accra Lions, the contest kicked off at 15:00GMT at the Golden City Park.

After a slow start to the game, the hosts were punished in the 10^th minute when the visitors equalised through Bernard Kesse.

While that lead would send Accra Lions into the break with the advantage, the team could not hold on to secure maximum points.

Berekum Chelsea came in strong in the second half and managed to restore parity in the 61^st minute thanks to a strike from star man Mizack Afriyie.

Although the home team would create several chances in the remainder of the game, the visitors’ defense stood strong to force the match to end in a 1-1 draw.

With a point away from home, Accra Lions have temporarily climbed to the top of the Ghana Premier League table with five points.

Berekum Chelsea are in third with four points.
