Former Deputy Sports Minister, Vincent Oppong Asamoah is unhappy with the resignation of Otto Addo as the head coach of the Black Stars.

The Borussia Dortmund talent coach left his role as the head coach of the team after Ghana's early exit at the 2022 World Cup.

Addo led the team to book qualification for the Mundial at the expense of Nigeria.

According to the Member of Parliament for Dormaa East, the Black Stars would have performed better in the future with Otto Addo in charge.

“Let's all be honest, our Black Stars started declining long ago, it did not start today.

"I was unhappy Otto Addo resigned because I feel he had enough experience and lessons to correct his mistakes and build a better team for us. I am very sure the Black Stars would have done very well going forward with Otto Addo as the coach.

"Since we have decided to rely on foreign players for the Black Stars, then we don't need a local coach.

"I will opt for Chris Hughton, I believe he can do the job but should he also fail with the Black Stars, then the problem will be beyond coaching but rather with us as a country," he added.

However, Chris Hughton is expected to be named the head coach of the team.

Meanwhile, the Black Stars are expected to regroup for their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations [AFCON] doubleheader qualifiers against Angola next month.
