Match Report: King Faisal beat Accra Lions 2-1 to climb out of relegation zone of GPL standings

King Faisal put up a strong performance on Sunday afternoon to see off Accra Lions with a deserved 2-1 win.

The two teams clashed at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium today in a matchday 8 encounter of the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League season.

Building on the momentum from the last two consecutive wins in the league, King Faisal had a strong start to the game and came close to scoring on a number of occasions in the first 30 minutes.

Having continued to pile pressure on the visitors, King Faisal finally broke the deadlock in the 37^th minute when Samuel Adom Antwi equalised with a fine effort.

With that goal sending the hosts into the break with a narrow lead, the team doubled their lead three minutes into the second half.

In-form experienced striker Abednego Tetteh got his name on the score sheet to make it 2-0 for his team.

Despite a good display from Accra Lions, the team only netted a consolation goal through Frederick Asante in the 72^nd minute.

King Faisal managed to hold on to record a 2-1 win and are now on an impressive three-game winning streak.
