A member of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Gabby Otchere-Darko has questioned the decision to sack former coach of the Black Stars coach, CK Akonnor.
Akonnor, a former Asante Kotoko gaffer was shown the exit by the Ghana Football Association in September 2021.
Milovan Rajevac was re-appointed as the head coach of the Black Stars on a one year deal in October.
However, Gabby's comments come after Ghana crashed out of the tournament following a shocking 3-2 defeat to debutants Comoros on Tuesday night in the final group game of the ongoing 2021 Africa Cup of Nations [AFCON].
Following the defeat, the former Executive Director of the Danquah Institute tweeted “We actually lost to Comoros.
“Yes! And, if we just played our best game in the tournament in losing to the least fancied side at AFCON then it sums up the state of the Black Stars today. My question is: so why did we sack CK?”
Ghana exited the tournament without a win. The Black Stars suffered a defeat against Morocco and a draw against Gabon.
The team exited the tournament with a point finishing bottom of Group C.
